Well maybe not change your life, but it’s really good for your body! I’ve long been a fan of beets! I love them pickled, in my soup and in my smoothie. I love everything about them!
The beetroot is the taproot portion of the beet plant. It is one of the many varieties of the genus Beta vulgaris, all of which are mostly grown for their edible taproots and leaves.
Commonly known for being a food source, beetroot is also used as a medicinal plant and as a food colourant because of its deep red/purple hue.
Dating back to the Middle Ages, beetroot has been used as food and as a treatment for numerous conditions and ailments. In many Indian households, beets have been used as a treatment for anemia.
Beetroot powder is rich in antioxidants, dietary fiber, calcium, iron, potassium, folate and manganese, along with other healthy nutrients. The number one benefit of beets are that they are naturally rich in nitrates, compounds that can improve blood flow and lower blood pressure!
A 2009 study by Exeter University found that supplementation with beetroot juice enhanced stamina, and extended time to exhaustion in high intensity exercise. It has become very popular and common for athletes to include beetroot powder in their supplementation plan.
Consider added beets, beet root powder or even beet greens to your smoothies and soups! Your body will love you for it ❤️
